ABOUT
Stones Cry is a family worship team consisting of Joel, June, Joy and Josiah. They travel across the nation sharing inspirational and contemporary Christian music in a wide variety of venues and settings including churches, schools and RV parks.
The ministry started as Sound Of The Trumpet in 1999 when Joel, a farm boy from North Dakota, felt the call to leave his Southern California job in construction for full-time ministry. His wife June joined him full-time two years later. Ever since Joy (2006) and Josiah (2008) were born, they gradually took part in the music side of things until 2017 when they truly became a full band and they changed the name to Stones Cry taken from Luke 19:40.
the band members
We may be a band, but we're a family, too.
Joel
Joel, aka Dad, is the one who started it all with Sound of the Trumpet 26 years ago. His main passion will always be the trumpet, which is loved by all who hear it, but he also fills in a lot with electric guitar and keyboards.
June
June, the daughter of former missionaries, Lu and Addie Mathison, is the one who keeps everyone in line with drums and percussion on stage, and as Mom off stage. Lately, her free time has been spent on starting a bookkeeping business.
Joy
Joy is 19 and loves all things music. She sings lead, plays the guitar, keyboard, and sometimes violin. She is our visionary. Currently, she is at college in Minnesota, but joins the family at concerts during breaks when she can. She's very passionate and has a lot of projects, which you can learn more about on her website.
